New Features - May 2009

I'm sure all of you have noticed quite a few changes recently, the purpose of which is to make the site a bit more community friendly. The most noticeable change is that the template, which controls the look of the site, has been given a complete overhaul. We think it is a visual improvement and hope you agree. Other things we added recently:

Rate Profiles

On everyone's profile under the portrait is a five star rating system. If you really like the content someone added to their profile, rate it as five stars. If you dislike someone's profile or want to send them a message that they should add more details, rate them lower.

MP3 Player

There is now a new & improved MP3 player available in your profiles, and this one is compatible with all Internet browsers we have tested! To add music to your profile, use the "Update My Profile" link in the profile settings menu to share your favourite music with everyone.

Profile Navigation

On member profile pages is a button on the left and right side of the page to browse profiles. This allows random navigation of users to see other members of the site. If you don't want people to find your profile like this, you con remove yourself by "Updating Your Profile" and disabling profile navigation.

Friends Chat

When logged in, at the bottom right of your browser you will see Online Friends (x) where X is how many friends you have logged in. You can click on this and in the menu click on the friend you want to chat with. They will be notified that you want to chat and you can have a private conversation in the pop-up Window. Don't have any Friends at NunavutOnline? Invite them using the invite tool in the user menu or send them an email asking them to join. Then go to their profile and request a connection.

Manage Your Own Privacy

You can now manage the privacy of most sections of your profile such as pictures, friends, recent visitors, MP3s, high scores etc. By default everything is available to everyone, however you can choose to make any/all section available to friends only, friends of friends, members only or keep them accessible to the public. In addition to whole section, you can also set privacy settings for specific fields in User Status and Contact Info, such as your Birthday, gender, community and relationship status. To manage your privacy settings, use the "Update Your Profile" link in the Profile Settings menu.

We highly recommend all users click on "Update Your Profile" and go through all settings for many of the new and previously existing. If you have any questions or problems, please post them in the forum!
